Sea Turtles on Brink of Extinction     Scientists recognize eight species of sea turtles. All of them are either or threatened with extinction. Sea turtles spend their lives in the world's tropical and temperate seas. During the breeding season, females emerge to lay their eggs on the beach. But these ancient secluded nesting sites are fast disappearing, victims of human encroachment and commercial development.
